like: where are you good at, Algorithms, Programming, Latest technical knowledge etc.
A2. Improve your STRONG AREAS: Find out the weak points
A3. Find out the weak areas in syllabus
like: generally mathematics part is easy, but normal aspirants tend to ignore it, there is general phobia, I AM CS/IT xpert..!, why i study engg math?
A4. Find the HOT TOPICS: The most topics of an exam.
like: Basics Data Structures, OS process scheduling, C pointer etc.
A5. Find out study material: This should be based on your requirements, like: for YOUR STRONG AREAS, you can have advanced (TOUGH) material to practise. for WEAK areas, you need SOME BOOK/NOTES/TUTORIAL giving basic concepts, so that you can have a head START.

Count NO OF MONTHS REMAINING TO THE GATE EXAM ( Long term plans)
Count NO OF DAYS REMAINING TO THE GATE EXAM ( Short term plans)

so practise hard,
solve previous years paper (atleast last five years papers should be covered)
solve MCQ's from books. like: Timothy Williams: MCQ in Computer Science.
NOTE: GATE EXAMS are held every SECOND SUNDAY of FEBRUARY MONTH.
